WHICH JUNIOR DRIVER DESERVE F1 SEAT?

Lot of drivers want to race in Formula 1. However, it’s really difficult to reach that. Sometimes, talent is not enough – you need a money. Straight for F1 redaction chose drivers list who deserve F1 seat. Let’s have look that.

Lot of Formula 1 teams take drivers from Formula 2. Championship leader in this series is Callum Ilott. Young british driver is current member of the Ferrari Academy. So there’s the chance to race for Haas or Alfa Romeo, because they cooperate with Italian brand. In addition, Ferrari reserves one seat in Alfa Romeo for their junior driver. Now, there’s Antonio Giovinazzi, but when he will be below the expectations, there could be chance for Ilott. The second driver Alfa Romeo Kimi Räikkonen could leave team too. His contract expire after current season and it’s looking he will not extend that. However, Ilott is not only one Ferrari driver, who racing in F2. Robert Shwartzman and Mick Schumacher also perform well. Robert is second in the championship, Mick sitting on fifth place. This is first season in F2 for Shwartzman and second for Schumacher. So it’s looking, Russian driver have a more potencial than Schumacher. But Schumacher could help his name, because everyone want to see, if Mick is on the same level like his father, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. Shwartzman and Schumacher are team mates in F2 and there’s an option they could be team mates in Haas or Alfa Romeo. Current Haas drivers will also end contract after this season. However, drivers like Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez or Sebastian Vettel will on transfer market. So battle for a seats in this two teams will be interested.

We think the next junior driver who deserves to race in F1 is Yuki Tsunoda. He is fourth in Formula 2 and that is his first season in this series. Tsunoda is Red Bull Academy member, so he could driver for AlphaTauri at least. Now there are Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat. If that transfer happen, he will probably replace Kvyat. Gasly shows better form than Russian driver. There’s an option one of AlphaTauri racer will replace unsuccessful Alex Albon, who could leave Red Bull completely. However Gasly and Kvyat raced for Red Bull and they got second chance in Toro Rosso (AlphaTauri). It could not be fair for Albon. Next reason why Tsunoda could transfer to AlphaTauri is Honda – Red Bull’s engines. They want to see japan driver in one of these two teams. But now it’s not looking this transfer is going to happen. Tsunoda needs to continue in good perfomances to stay in fight to Red Bull.

Christian Lundgaard is next on list. 19 years old driver shows big potencial. He is third on F2 but it’s not looking he will drive in F1 next season. Lundgaard is Renault Academy driver and F1 seats are reserved. There was a chance he could be Renault F1 driver after Daniel Ricciardo left, but french team prefered Fernando Alonso. We want to see Christian in Formula 1.

We expected Nyck de Vries in F1 this season. The dutch driver is the winner of F2 2019, but he didn’t got a chance in Formula 1. McLaren junior program didn’t help him either. He is Formula E driver now, so there’s small chance he will find a seat in F1. But we know how Formula 1 is, so Nyck still could drive here.

At the end, we want to mention one name – Roman Staněk. He is Czech 16 years old Formula 3 driver. Of course we don’t expect he will race in F1 soon. Roman must be 18 years old and be successful in F3 to make progress to F2. No czech driver got chance in F1 (only test or reserve drivers) so could be fine if that happened. It depends only on Stanek.

So these are drivers who we think deserve a chance in F1. We wish them and also other drivers who want to be part of F1 good luck.
